The Great Falls Balloon Festival is a staple in the Lewiston-Auburn area. It is an iconic event with a 3-decade history. As a child, I remember going to the Balloon Festival every year – there were rides, food stands (oh the food stands!!), and always the guy with the snake around his neck. It also happened at one of my favorite places in Lewiston-Auburn, Simard Payne Park – where so many amazing events, like the Dempsey Challenge, are held.
Heck, the Balloon Festival is in my soul. My mother loves to fondly think back to my birth when I was born at Central Maine Medical Center, she recalls watching the Energizer Bunny balloon lift off into the air. I suppose the Balloon Festival has been a part of me, my whole life.
Naturally, being involved in one way or another was bound to happen. So, this year I designed the website for the organization taking over the festival in the absence of the Great Falls Balloon Festival. It was a quick turnaround, working to understand the scope of the project and produce it. Partnering with the marketing team at the L/A Metro Chamber, we got to work building a site that is a hub of information for the Balloon Festival.
We built a branded home for the festival where details can be shared with patrons, excitement can be garnered, and the community can come together. We implemented multiple web forms, implemented complex assets, and assisted in the curation of the creative direction of the online presence.
It was a blast to see things come full circle building out this website.
